HOOT

I started little behind than others in my class, but I caught up eventually. It was little bit hard to catch up with lessons^^;; However I read it all!!



<Hoot> means the sound of owls are making.

 

This book is dealing with the controversal issue, which is about preserving the nature verse(v/s)industrial development, ignorance of adults vs a main character Roy and Mullet Fingers. People are living in animal's habitat from destroying the nature and animals. From peoples' selfish mind just develop and destroy like movie 'AVATAR'. People are just finding their benefit. So they destroy the native and try to get lot of advantages. Even if those summary are not true.

I think Carl Hiaasen want to tell us the lessons from Roy’s view. For example, in chapter 13, Roy was explaining to his father about what's happening, he said about owls problem. He tried to persuade how development of pancake house will make owls go away or get killed by humans. Here is the Roy’s <”How would you and Mom like it, if bunch of strangers showed up one day with bulldozers to flatten this house? And all they had to say was ’Don’t worry. Mr. and Mrs. Eberhardt(Roy's parents), it’s no big deal. Just pack up and move to another place.’ How would you feel about that”> I can picture this scene and it delivers the Roy's compassion. I don’t know the prize that the book got named, 'Newberry Honor book' mean, but certainly, this book got prize because how important about protecting environments and animals.

In the beginning I wrote, this book blames adults who have no compassion but self-righteousness. Officer Delinco who only has interest on promotion, Curly who care about development of his business and don't care about the owls. Carl show us how cruel people are by destroying the environment. Few years ago, housing development are coming really big problem. They just want to solve only for poor even the house value are going lower.

I want to recommend this book strongly.People read this book, and I don't want this crime happening as like from book ‘HOOT’. When it gives lesson, then we should follow the lessons. You should read this book, than you will see how humans are destroying…
